Motorists are facing delays again going through Sandbach but this time it's an emergency and the lights should be gone as soon as they came.

A power outage at the substation opposite the Sandbach Rugby Club in Bradwall Road caused a connector to blow on Middlewich Road.

This left four homes without mains electricity and SP Energy Networks has provided a generator to those houses.

Councillor Nicola Cook, who presents Cheshire East's Elworth ward said: "Emergency repairs are taking place on Middlewich Road which has been controlled by three-way traffic lights.

"The traffic on the road is flowing but you may need to give yourself some extra time.

"The electricity should be restored today however the road and footpath then need to be repaired.

"I have made SP electric aware that planned resurfacing is due to take place on Friday, and therefore they are prioritising the road fix.

"Depending on what happens it may affect the resurfacing planned for Friday and I will let people know as soon as I have any further information.

"Just to stress these are emergency works and thanks as ever for your patience."
