Residents have reacted to the planned Taco Bell drive-thru restaurant in Crewe - following a Nub News article revealing the potential development.

On Wednesday (February 15), Nub News reported Custodian Capital Ltd submitted proposals to open a new Taco Bell eatery inside Unit 4, Phoenix Leisure Park, Dunwoody Way.

This development would see Taco Bell replace the former Pizza Hut restaurant - forced to close in December 2021.

Taco Bell plans to operate a 24-hour drive-thru restaurant in Crewe - making a number of changes to the existing unit.

This includes alterations to the exterior of the existing building and surrounding car park.

Following the Nub News article hundreds of local residents reacted to the development - with the majority positive.

Crewe mum, Courtney Everall, said: "Already knew it [Taco Bell] was coming to Crewe last year, didn't know where it would be though.

"The staff in the one at Stafford told us it would be opening in Crewe."

Founded in 1962, Taco Bell serves a variety of Mexican-inspired food, including tacos, burritos, quesadillas and nachos.

Currently, the closest Taco Bell to Crewe is in Stafford, approximately 30 miles away.

It also has several eatery locations in Manchester.

Nub News reader, Sarah Jane, was also delighted with the potential Taco Bell drive-thru eatery so close to home.

She said: "No longer do I have to drive to Yorkshire for one (yes I'm aware there is one in Manchester)."

Taco Bell on Hough Retail Park, Stafford - currently its closest location to Crewe (Google).

This potential Taco Bell development could fill Crewe's Phoenix Leisure Park for the first time in five years.

Tenpin opened a new entertainment centre on Thursday 16 February - replacing MFA Bowl which closed in 2018.

A resident of Wilson Place, Crewe, was in support of the Taco Bell planning application.

He submitted a comment on Cheshire East's planning website, saying: "Taco Bell is a great idea and will give the local residents more variety in the town.

"They are everywhere in the USA and I really wanted to try but never got to.

This potential Taco Bell development could fill Crewe's Phoenix Leisure Park for the first time in five years (Ryan Parker).

"The food is supposed to be great and delicious. Mexican food would be brilliant for Crewe."
