By Deborah Bowyer 20th Apr 2022

A talented female Sandbach cricket player has hit a first for her club – by representing Lancashire in a top championship.

Rising star, Tilly Kesteven (17), played for the Lancashire 1st XI in the ECB Woman's county T20 championship.

Tilly managed seven not out and fielded well in games against Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

The Sandbach youngster has climbed up through the junior ranks at Sandbach Cricket Club.

Now Tilly is hoping she will be selected for more Lancashire games on May 2nd and the finals day on May 8th.

A Sandbach Cricket Club spokesperson said: "She is the club's first player to have ever represented Lancashire (as far as we know) in our 136-year history.

"We are so proud of Tilly's achievements and the fact that she has come up through the junior ranks at the club to play for Lancashire. Well done Tilly!"
