Moston Lane is named after the famous Moston dragon.
Moston Lane is named after the famous Moston dragon.

A Sandbach church recreated the fascinating tale of a legendary Welsh dragon to help raise funds.

And this legendary tale is the reason why we have a road in Moston called Dragons Lane.

Members of Elworth Methodist Church held a three-day dragon event based on the story of the Moston dragon.

Rumour has it that the story of St George & The Dragon and the poem 'The Dragon Of Moston' is based on the dragon.

The church created a dragon display telling the story as well as offering a dragon quiz and even a special menu with red dragon soup.

Lay leader, Jean Ellershaw (pictured below) said: "We have some very talented members of the congregation who have come up with all sorts of ideas.

"The display was a combination of everyone's work and we're delighted with how it's turned out.

"We try and do things which are a little bit different and this has really worked. We've even got dragon fruit!"

A giant red dragon greeted visitors to the display while a church hall was full of dragons of every description.

Did you go and see this exhibition or do you have any stories to tell of the Moston dragon?
