Road temporarily closed and residents asked to remain indoors after electrical cable fault

A road near Sandbach was temporarily closed after a pole caught fire due to an electrical cable fault.
Cross Lane in Winterley was shut for a while at 2.58 pm yesterday (Thursday) while firefighters used a dry powder extinguisher to put out the fire.

One fire engine from Crewe went to the fire.
A Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "The road was temporarily closed and residents were asked to remain indoors until the electricity board arrived and isolated the electricity to make the scene safe.
"At 4.45 pm crews handed over to the electricity board after using the thermal imaging camera to ensure there were no further hot spots."
