Sandbach celebrates hometown heroes as Foden's Band claims British Open title

Sandbach's world-famous Foden's Band are champions again winning the British Open Brass Band Championship at the weekend.
Now the band, named after the famous Sandbach-based truck company, are preparing for the National Finals at Regent Hall in London next month (October).
Foden's Band said on Social Media: "We're absolutely delighted and looking forward to representing England at the 2028 Euros!
"A special mention to our fantastic conducting team of Michael Fowles and Russell Gray for all their hard work behind the scenes, in sectionals and rehearsals.
"We've had a number of personnel changes over the past year, with three members performing in their first contest with the band -Darcie Dewhurst, Rimika Umetsu and Eloisa Donovan. What a first contest to win!
"A massive shout-out to our solo Horn, Grace Jeffers, on her first contest performance since moving up from 1st Horn in March. She absolutely smashed it!
"Finally, a big thank you to the Mortimer team and their hardworking crew for putting on another brilliantly organised and thoroughly enjoyable contest.
"Next up, our attention turns to the National Finals, and we're looking forward to welcoming Russell Gray back to Sandbach as preparations continue on preparations continue on Philip Sparke's A Road Less Travelled."
