A Sandbach church has shown its support to help Ukraine following the Russian invasion and voted to donate cash to an emergency disaster fund.

Members of the Church on Ettiley Heath's church council made the decision to send £200 to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) at its annual general meeting on Wednesday night.

Treasurer, Andrew Griffin, told the meeting: "It's a mark of faith to a much-needed cause." Members of the church council agreed for the money to be sent to DEC.

DEC raised £100m for its Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. The appeal raised £55m in its first 24 hours of launch which included some match-funding from the British government.

The church set up its hugely popular "Church4All" formula to help regrow numbers during the pandemic.

Its fun-filled services which range from traditional to Forest Church events plus its popular weekly toddlers' group, "Seedlings", are gradually seeing numbers grow.
