FAMILIES in Sandbach are being invited to celebrate the life of a loved one this Christmas with St Luke's 'Light up a Life' appeal.

They can dedicate a light on the Christmas tree at the South Cheshire hospice and join in for a virtual service of remembrance on Sunday, December 5.

Dr Andrea Graham, Director of Clinical Services at the Winsford-based hospice said: "Light up a Life is for everyone, regardless of faith or culture. It is for people who do not have a direct connection to St. Luke's, as well as for those who do.

"It provides us all with a unique opportunity to come together as a community to remember those we love, especially after the difficulties of the past year.

"Every light that shines on the Christmas tree is a heartfelt tribute to those who are missed but definitely not forgotten."

The service will be available through the hospice's website and social media channels.

And each person who dedicates a light on the tree will be sent a card containing the name of their loved one as well as a special remembrance pack containing a candle to light at home in memory, as well as a booklet of readings and poems.

The name of their loved one will also be entered into St Luke's Book of Memories, alongside the names and dedications of others.

Light up a Life is St Luke's most important annual service and helps to raise vital funds to enable the Hospice to continue providing care and support to local people and their families.

Dr Andrea added: "Your kind donation will enable St Luke's to continue to be here for other families who need our help in the future, ensuring they have the chance to spend precious moments together while receiving the best possible care."
