Sandbach Day of Dance is back this weekend with Morris dancers from far and wide

By Deborah Bowyer 6th Jun 2025

An event celebrating dance and folklore is being held in the town again.

Sandbach Day of Dance was a festival of Morris Dancing, organised by two Sandbach residents, which took place from 2000 to 2017.

The first Sandbach Day of Dance was held last year (2024) as we revealed here after a break since 2017 and is now back again this year. The Sandbach Day of Dance 2025 takes place tomorrow (Saturday).

Thirteen Morris sides will be coming to the town for this year's Sandbach Day of Dance 2025 which will take place at a variety of venues . This Saturday throughout the day in the town centre.

The Domesday Morris kit consists of white collarless shirts, brown cor.uroys, and tatters jackets in mixed woodland colours, finished off with a top hat decorated with flowers, foliage and feathers.

Ringheye Morris is a North West Morris side founded in Mobberley in 1983 but in 2015 Ringheye moved to Knutsford.

The name Ringheye was chosen, principally because Mobberley stands very close to Manchester Airport which used to be known as Ringway.

The dancers will be performing at six locations throughout the town - the side of the market hall, at the front of Sandbach Town Hall, in Market Square, outside the Old Hall, outside the Military Arms pub and in front of Sandbach library.
