Sandbach Day of Dance launch fundraising appeal to pay for the event after funding was withdrawn

Organisers of Sandbach Day of Dance have launched a crowfunding appeal after funding was withdrawn by Sandbach Town Council.
Sandbach Nub News reported here how a decision was made at the last full town council meeting to stop the funding of £3,000 for next year and the year after for the annual event.
Now Sandbach Day of Dance organisers are asking the public to help back their bid to raise £6,000 to stage the event next year and the year after.
Sandbach Day of Dance said on Social Media: "Further to the recent problems regarding the funding for the annual Sandbach Day of Dance the organising committee have been considering our options.
"We only ever wanted to put on a fantastic free public event for the Town to enjoy and to support the town's businesses and trade by showcasing the best of our nation's traditional dance - Morris dancing.

"We never wanted the unpleasant situation created by a few but affecting the many. In conclusion following discussions and encouraged by the massive groundswell of support from the Sandbach Town residents, local businesses and further afield we have decided "The show must go on"
To prove we are correct, and this event is what the town's people do want (Irrespective of some) we have set in motion the organisation of Sandbach Day of Dance 2026 which will take place on Saturday 30th May 2026.
"We had £6000 funding withdrawn and this matter will be dealt with in the fullness of time but for now we will forge ahead and bring to Sandbach a bigger and brighter event putting the town on the map with representation of as many styles of traditional British dance as possible."
The group said on their Crowdfunding appeal which has already raised £1,121: "We seek to raise £6,000 to fund an improved, larger day of dance in 2026 and 2027 following the withdrawal of funding by the Town council.
"We are inspired by the fantastic support we have received from the residents and businesses of Sandbach and further afield.
"The £6000 will not only fund the next two years festivals but also support the newly formed Sandbach Morris group based in the town.
"The Sandbach Day of Dance is apolitical, religiously unaffiliated and welcomes all."
