Sandbach: Fire crews use breathing apparatus to tackle Ettiley Heath blaze

By Deborah Bowyer 8th Sep 2021

Firefighters used breathing apparatus to tackle a fire on the first floor of a house in Ettiley Heath today.

Six fire engines from Crewe. Middlewich, Holmes Chapel, Congleton, Stockton Heath, Nantwich and an aerial appliance from Lymm were called to the blaze in Coleridge Close at 11.45 am.

A spokesman from Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reel jets and a six-meter ladder to tackle the fire from both internally and externally.

They also set up an aerial appliance to fight the fire from above and also isolated the gas and electricity at the semi-detached house and the adjoining property.

An update released by Cheshire Fire & Rescue later in the day said firefighters continued to check for hot spots using a thermal imaging camera and cutting away affected areas before damping down the scene.
