Sandbach man gets ready to run London marathon for homeless veterans

Sandbach man, Steve Nixon, camped out overnight at the weekend to raise money for homeless veterans and next month he's stepping out for them once again the London Marathon.
Steve, who spent 20 years in the army, took part in an sponsored sleep-out in Sandbach town centre on Saturday (March 22nd) to support the Royal British Legion.
The avid marathon runner has set up a fundraising page here for donations and has already raised £1,390 of his £2,000 target.

"I served 20 years in the Army and this cause is deeply personal to me," said Steve. "Too many veterans struggle with homelessness after their service, and I'm doing this to highlight their situation and raise funds to support them.
"This sleep-out was part of my fundraising for the London Marathon on April 25th, 2025, which will be my sixth and final world major marathon. "
Steve has previously completed the following marathons:
"Fewer than 20,000 runners worldwide have completed all six of these prestigious marathons, and I'm honoured to be joining that group while raising money for a cause so close to my heart," he added.
