A Sandbach GP practice has been recognised for its work with military personnel.

Ashfields Primary Care Centre in Middlewich Road has been awarded a silver award for its work with reservists/military veterans and families – the only one in Cheshire to hold the award

It is a prestigious award that requires many challenges to be met and is based on a strict criteria judged by the Ministry of Defence.

David Crosthwaite, Military Veterans champion and care co-ordinator at Ashfields, who collected with award with care co-ordinators, Kate Evans, team leader, said: ""We're delighted to have been recognised by achieving the Silver Award.

"It shows that we are aiming in the right direction but it's important to know that there is much more to do to ensure that serving/veterans and military families receive the services provided under the Armed Forces covenant.

"At the same time the Sandbach community should know that the Practice is here to help in all matters health related."
