A group of Sandbach women who fund raise and take part in community events are starting the year on a high - after serving up success in the town.

Sandbach Ladies Circle helped raise £4,000 for groups throughout the town- thanks to the new-look annual Santa's sleigh ride.

And they also provided local senior citizens with a delicious breakfast on the day before 'Blue Monday'.

Charlotte Snell, Sandbach Ladies Circle chair 2022-23 said: "I'm incredibly proud to be chair this year and stand alongside such strong women, who care deeply about our community and putting a smile on peoples' faces.

"It's been an honour to oversee this year's activities across the local community.

A Sandbach Ladies Circle spokesperson added: "In the past year, the new and improved Santa sleigh route brought cheer to young and old alike.

"Funded by a tombola stall held at the local Makers' Market, the sleigh's scout car received a new sound system.

"Christmas carols filled the air for 13 days of joyful door to door visits and photo opportunities with Santa.

"We re-established the tradition of inviting other community groups to help on the nights and collected money to support various non-for-profit community groups.

"Sandbach Animal Rescue, Sandbach Pride, Scouts, Girl Guides Sandbach, CACU (electric car team, Sandbach High School), Gibson's Greengrocers (who donated additional hampers to the community), Elworth Cricket Club, Sandbach Netball Club, Sandbach Art Room, Sandbach High School - Kenya Trip, Lions Youth Brass Band, Sandbach Hockey Club and Sandbach 41 Club all supported the sleigh.

"In total, the sleigh raised just over £4000 which was distributed among the supporting organisations and will be used by SLC to deliver future charitable community activities.

"For the first time, Sandbach Town Council collaborated with SLC and provided vehicles and volunteers for towing the sleigh every night.
