We might still be in the depths of winter, but one Sandbach resident has fond memories of the time she spent on a sunny Caribbean island shooting Death in Paradise.

Ruth Carney, who did an MA in Theatre Directing in Russia and Middlesex after her degree at the University of Sheffield, has directed the last two episodes of a previous series.

The hit drama set on a sunny Caribbean island returned to the TV screens last night (Friday) bringing back memories of the time Sandbach Heath resident, Ruth Carney spent 10 weeks on the beautiful island of Guadeloupe two years ago.

Ruth, who did an MA in Theatre Directing in Russia and Middlesex after her degree at the University of Sheffield, Said previously: "It was such a beautiful place. It's such an unspoilt island and was an amazing place to work.

"It was very hot and we did long days, starting at 7am to try and avoid the heat. Temperatures were around 36 o C. There's an English crew and a French crew,

"The island relies a lot on tourism so it's great that Death in Paradise showcases the beauty of the island."

For Ruth's two episodes which she directed one revolved around a game of chess while the other has a "reggae rap" – applicable as Ruth relaxes to music when she's not working.

Death in Paradise, the latest series, Series 14, began airing last night (January 31st).
