Sandbach: M6 closed northbound following serious collision

Police are urging motorists to find alternative routes today after a collision on the M6 closed the northbound carriageway of the M6.

Shortly after 8am today police were called to reports of a collision on the M6 on the northbound carriageway near to Sandbach involving a HGV.

The HGV collided with a bridge and one person is believed to have sustained serious injuries.

As a result of the incident the carriageway is currently closed northbound between junctions 17 (Sandbach) and 18 (Middlewich) and the closure is expected to last for several hours.

Local diversions are place but there are long delays and members of the public are advised to avoid the area if possible.
