The Assistive Technology team at Leonard Cheshire has been shortlisted as a finalist for this year's prestigious GB Care Awards in the "Putting People First" category.

"We are delighted and immensely proud to be shortlisted for this award," said David Hursthouse, assistive technology project manager at Leonard Cheshire, based at Hill House in Sandbach.

"It's a true recognition of the hard work and dedication of the entire team, as well as our commitment to putting people at the centre of everything we do.

"Our approach to assistive technology is focused on fostering independence, enhancing communication, and supporting well-being for those in our care."

The Great British Care Awards celebrate excellence across the care sector, with the aim of paying tribute to individuals and teams who make an outstanding difference to the lives of others.

A Leonard Cheshire spokesperson said: "The achievement of Leonard Cheshire's Assistive Technology team is testament to their dedication and commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals through innovative, person-centred assistive technology solutions.

"The "Putting People First" category highlights organisations that prioritise the needs and aspirations of those they serve.

"Leonard Cheshire's Assistive Technology team has worked tirelessly to create tools and strategies that empower individuals in adult social care to improve communication, independence, and well-being.

"This shortlisting acknowledges the team's collective efforts and their ongoing mission to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people they support."

Leonard Cheshire is committed to providing high-quality, person-centred support in adult social care.

The power of technology can play a key role in helping individuals live fuller, more independent lives but this is typically not funded by local authority care packages.

Leonard Cheshire's delivery of support through cutting edge technology is reliant on charitable grants and its other fundraising.

Vanessa Davies, Executive Director of Quality and Compliance at Leonard Cheshire, added: "This recognition underscores our commitment to delivering quality care through innovation.

"The Assistive Technology team is transforming the way we support individuals, enabling greater independence and improving their overall well-being."

The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 16th where winners will be announced.
