Motorists on the M6 northbound near Sandbach are still facing long delays a week after a HGV lorry driver collided with a railway bridge and died.

Queuing traffic has remained a daily occurrence since the accident last Tuesday due repairs to the bridge meaning the closure of lanes.

The railway bridge is said to have sustained "significant damage" which is why the repairs are taking so long and traffic is still delayed.

The accident happened just after 8am last Tuesday morning between Junction 17 at Sandbach and Junction 18 at Middlewich.

Driver faced long diversions last Tuesday while this M6 section was closed for most of Tuesday reopening with just two lanes.

Sandbach Nub News revealed how one motorist had spent more than 12 hours sitting in her car after getting on at Junction 16.
