Online casino comparison service Casino Alpha discovered the most common chocolates in Celebrations, Quality Streets and Heroes by purchasing three of each product and counting the number of different chocolate varieties.

These totals were then divided by three to find the average per tub, as well as the chance of picking out each chocolate at random

  • The study revealed Snickers and Milky Way were the most common varieties in Celebrations.
  • Fudge was the most common variety in Quality Street.
  • Dinky Decker and Dairy Milk were the most common varieties in Heroes.

Snickers and Milky Ways were the most common varieties in Celebrations with an average of 10 chocolates in each tub. Both chocolate varieties were found exactly 10 times in every purchased tub, so expect to encounter them often. This results in a 16% chance of picking out either variety from a full tub.

Mars was the second most common variety in Celebrations with an average of nine chocolates in each tub. There were nine Mars Bars found across every purchased tub, with a 15% chance of picking one out.

Maltesers were the third most common variety in Celebrations with an average of seven chocolates in each tub. Two tubs had seven each, whilst one tub only had six, resulting in an 11% chance of picking one out.

Other varieties included Galaxy (7), Galaxy Caramel (6), Bounty (6), and Twix (6).

There was an average of 61 chocolates in each Celebrations tub. One tub had 60 chocolates, another had 64 chocolates, and the last had 59 chocolates.

Fudge was the most common variety in Quality Street with an average of eight chocolates in each tub. There were eight Fudge chocolates found across every purchased tub, with a 12% chance of picking one out from the full selection.

Caramel Swirl, Toffee Finger, Toffee Penny, Orange Creme and Strawberry Delight were the second most common varieties in Quality Street with an average of seven chocolates in each tub. There is an 11% chance of picking out each of these varieties from a full tub apart from Strawberry Delight which you have a 10% chance.

Coconut Eclair and The Purple One were the third most common varieties in Quality Street with an average of five chocolates in each tub. Both chocolate varieties were found exactly five times in every purchased tub. This results in an 8% chance of picking out either variety.

Other varieties included Orange Chocolate Crunch (4), Milk Choc Block (4), and The Green Triangle (4).

There was an average total of 65 chocolates in each Quality Street, with every tub having exactly this amount.

Creme Egg Twisted, Dairy Milk Caramel and Fudge were the second most common varieties in Heroes with an average of seven chocolates in each tub. All three varieties were found between six to eight times in every tub, mostly seven times. There is a 13% chance of picking out a Creme Egg Twisted, 12% for Dairy Milk Caramel, and 11% for Fudge.

Other varieties included Twirl and Eclairs, both with an average of four chocolates in each tub.

There was an average total of 58 chocolates in each Heroes. One tub had 59 chocolates, whilst the other two had exactly 58 chocolates.

A spokesperson for Casino Alpha said: "Chocolate variety selection tubs such as Celebrations, Quality Street, and Heroes tend to be very popular during the festive season when family and guests are expected. Everyone has their favourites and since some chocolates are more abundant than others, it can result in slim pickings if you're the last to choose.

"This study offers some insight into the average number of chocolates in each tub and the likelihood of finding each one. There are some clear variations in the frequency of chocolates across all three brands, so knowing the starting distribution will offer an advantage for finding your favourites."
