The manager of a Sandbach pub is swapping pulling pints for jumping out of a plane to raise money for a children's charity.

Brave Emma Bateman, manager of The Military Arms, is doing a charity skydive for the Cheshire-based Joshua Tree charity which supports families affected by childhood cancers.

The daring mum-of-one was looking to do a skydive for charity and read about The Joshua Tree, founded by Lynda and David Hill after their son was diagnosed with leukaemia.

Emma, 33, then decided she wanted to start raising funds for The Joshua Tree which have included regular quiz nights with funds going to the charity.

She set up a JustGiving page for her skydive and next weekend she takes to the skies for families dealing with cancer

And Emma will be doing the skydive on Saturday, August 13th – the same day that her mum, Tina Edmonstone, sadly lost a brother to leukaemia.

"I'm so excited. I love challenges," said Emma. "I've always fancied doing a skydive and I'll be raising money for this wonderful cause."

"The Joshua Tree offers everything for families dealing with cancer. We've been holding quizzes to raise money but this is my big event."

Emma is travelling to an airfield near Whitchurch for the skydive and pub regulars aren't being forgotten.

When Emma gets back to the Congleton Road pub a big party is being held to celebrate the event.

There will be live music from Kelley Tigerheart at 5pm and a host of other things happening to mark the day.

"It's a chance for everyone to get involved," said Emma.

In the meantime, pub regulars and others can donate to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Emma-Bateman7?utm_source=Sharethis&utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=Emma-Bateman7&utm_campaign=pfp-email&utm_term=182d28fedfca4dfd81b4e99cdbc2f7ce&fbclid=IwAR3suL4U5VUolPAL6LgPlHSfZstA69hbewO6msPOgP7Hl4VesugHUHcf-WA

Good luck Emma!
