A Sandbach school is to be substantially refurbished as part of the Government's school rebuilding programme.
Historic Sandbach School in Crewe Road, whose buildings were designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, is to receive money from the Government programme.
And the move has been welcomed by Congleton MP, Fiona Bruce MP, whose constituency covers Sandbach.
The school had been selected as one of the schools that will be refurbished as part of the fourth round of the programme.
The School Rebuilding Programme is backed by £1.8 billion of Government funding this financial year, helping to improve and provide state of the art learning environments for pupils in primary, secondary, and specialist schools, in addition to sixth form colleges around England.
Each school in the programme has been selected based on the condition of its buildings, making sure the greatest improvements are delivered for schools that need them the most and maximising children's chances to gain the skills and knowledge they need.
The new or improved buildings will be more energy efficient for future winter resilience, helping schools to keep bills down.
Welcoming this investment Fiona Bruce MP said: "It has been a privilege to work with Sandbach School to help secure this substantial Government investment which I am confident will ensure that an already highly regarded school can go from strength to strength.
"I have the utmost respect for the leadership of Sarah Burns and her colleagues at Sandbach School, with whom it has been a pleasure to work for many years and I am confident that this investment will not only improve the learning experience of students at the school but also help them continue to learn, develop and achieve their full potential."
Sarah Burns, Headteacher at Sandbach School said: "The entire Sandbach School community was delighted to learn that that we are part of the School Rebuilding Programme.
Headteacher, Sarah Burns
"This will secure the wonderful buildings which are part of the heritage of Sandbach town ensuring the school can continue to provide the best possible learning environment for our students.
"We would like to extend our grateful thanks to Fiona for all her longstanding support to the school."
