A Sandbach town councillor who breached the Code of Conduct has had his council email suspended and has been removed from all committees and sub-committees.

Sandbach Town Council unanimously agreed at its last full council meeting that the action should be taken following the findings of a Cheshire East hearing sub-committee at the end of last year.

Sandbach Nub News told click here. how Councillor David Jack (Independent), town ward, breached the code of conduct.

Now Sandbach Town Council's Labour group has issued a statement following the council meeting and the hearing.

The statement says: "In a 350 page report put together by an independent lawyer, the actions of David Jack were laid bare.

"The report catalogued 'gratuitous offensive and abusive comments and none of it could be dignified with the description of political expression'.

"The report concluded that the comments he makes about others and the behaviours he exhibits have no place in civilised public debate.

"The limited restrictions placed upon him of a finding of a failure to comply with the Code are amply justified.

"It is unfortunate that the powers available to curb his behaviour are limited and it is cases such as this which have led the Committee on Standards in Public Life to call on the government to increase the powers available to deal with poor behaviour by members."

Cheshire East leader and fellow Sandbach Town Council councillor, Sam Corcoran (Labour) said: "I am pleased to note that the Conservatives supported the action taken against David Jack."

Sandbach Nub News has approached Cllr Jack for a comment.
