A Sandbach town councillor is stepping after six and a half years in the role – to move to Scotland.

Councillor Kathryn Flavell, a councillor for Elworth, moved to the town 10 years ago but has decided to relocate to be nearer family.

Cllr Flavell was a district councillor for Cheshire East until January 2022 and became Mayor of Sandbach from 2022 – 2023.

Sandbach Town Council's Chief Officer, Ceri Lloyd, said Cllr Flavell will be missed.

"We are going to miss her professionalism and commitment," she said.

Cllr Flavell, a musician, is currently chairman of Sandbach Choral Society as well as a volunteer for Sandbach Animal Rescue Society.
