Sandbach United has named their first team manager to take them through next season.

The club, who play in the North West Counties Football League Division One South, have named Declan Swan as their permanent manager.

A statement issued by Sandbach United said Declan was appointed following "a rigorous" interview process.

The statement said: "The panel voted unanimously in favour of the man who has been in temporary charge since the position became vacant in December."

Chairman Pete Colclough said "The club has been very impressed by Declan since he took temporary charge of the team and has finished the season strongly.

"He has had a lot to contend with in terms of player movements over the winter months and he has handled it all with professionalism, producing good performances on the pitch.

"His attention to detail and the way he has galvanised the squad so quickly is a credit to him. We went through an extensive interview process and had many quality candidates, but Declan stood out and we believe he is the right fit for the club and to take us forward.

"We are all looking forward to working with Declan we are all excited for the future".

Declan, who is also head coach of the Cheshire FA Under 18 youth team, said: "I am hugely thankful on two counts.

"Firstly, that the club has gone through the process and trusted us as coaches to take them forward into next season.

"Secondly the players have worked so hard. Performances and results over the last few weeks have been great, and they really have wanted us to be successful.

"It is a privilege and something I am immensely proud to say that I am manager of Sandbach United."
