Football lovers all over the world are set to get a slice of Sandbach United Football Club – thanks to a scheme to recycle old kits.
The Hind Heath Road club is taking part in the sports kit recycling scheme which is run by the Lord's Taverners.
Liz Clark, the club's diversity and inclusion officer said: "This season was the first season that we have had a sponsor that has bought kit for the whole club. Thank you Planet Environmental.
"This has meant that we have been able to recycle our old kits, via Lord's Taverners who are involved in a charity circulating to the less fortunate in the UK and rest of the world.
"Some of our boys from U9 Harriet's and U7 Kites helped with the moving of the kit.
"Whilst we were doing it, one little boy threw a bin bag full of kit over his shoulder and said I feel like Santa, delivering our old kit to other children, it's like a present. This is so humbling and very true."
The Lord's Taverners say the scheme has helped children in India, Germany, Antigua, Brazil, Romania, Rwanda, Uganda, The Gambia and Mexico
A spokesman said: "The benefits of sports are numerous. Having the correct kit gives more young people the opportunity to play team sport and develop crucial life skills such as teamwork, communication and confidence, alongside improving their overall health and well-being."
Well done Sandbach United from Sandbach Nub News! Another great win for this fantastic team.
