Cheadle went on to score another goal to bring the final score to 3 - 1.

It wasn't to be – Sandbach United aka The Ramblers - lost in the final of the play-offs yesterday (Saturday).

Last Saturday saw Sandbach beat Brocton 3-1 at the Hind Heath Road stadium but yesterday (Saturday) the tables were turned and it was a different story.

A record crowd of 1,375 saw the Bach beaten 3-1 by Cheadle Town at home at Hind Heath Road.

Chairman, Peter Colclough, said it was a disappointing result but Sandbach would now look to moving forward to building for next season.

Wayne Burton, Managing Director of Planet Environmental, the club's main sponsor, praised the turn-out.

"It's great to see so many fans here supporting the team. Sadly it wasn't the result we wanted but it's a case of looking forward."

A packed ground saw the match played at pace with supporters from both teams cheering players on.

James Patrick, one of the gutted Sandbach United fans said: "We just didn't turn up today.

"The better team on the day won. Sadly, that's how it goes."

Another Sandbach United fan, James Munro said: "It's a hugely disappointing end to a season which promised so much.

"We came up against a team which is well organised. Sandbach just didn't get going. It was a dream start with us scoring first but sadly it all went downwards from there."

Sandbach Nub News passes on our commiserations to Sandbach United and wishes them luck in their preparations for next season.

Up the Bach!
