The General Election is just around the corner but voters in one Sandbach ward will go to the polls earlier - in a Sandbach Town Council by-election.

Candidates are vying for one seat on Sandbach Town Council's Ettiley Heath and Wheelock ward following the resignation of Councillor Martin Deakin who is moving out of the area as revealed here.

Four candidates are vying to become the new councillor in the by-election which takes place on Thursday, June 27th.

They are: Callum Chalmers (Liberal Democrat), Richard Hovey (Independent). Philip Pinto (Reform UK) and Sandrene Wright (Labour Party).

Polling stations will open at 7am on Thursday, June 27th and voters will have until 10pm to cast their votes. A list of polling stations for each ward is on the Cheshire East Council website.

Sandbach Town Council is made up of 20 councillors across four wards - Town Ward, Sandbach Heath and East Ward, Ettiley Heath and Wheelock Ward and Elworth Ward.

Councillors are elected by public vote every four years. Any vacancies occurring outside of the four yearly election may be filled by co-option or a by-election.
