A Sandbach woman and her daughter are counting down the days to an epic charity bike ride in Thailand to help sufferers of a deadly cancer.

Courageous Andrea Sheardown of Marlborough Drive overcame a rare bile duct cancer, Cholangiocarcinoma, herself.

Andrea was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma in October 2015 which has one of the worst survival rates of all cancers.

She successfully managed to beat it and now Andrea, daughter Amelia and an "army" of supporters are heading out to Thailand on February 16th to help others.

Twenty-seven people will be cycling 1,000 km from Bangkok to Phuket in nine days in a bid to raise money for sufferers of the deadly cancer.

"Together we will face the heat and humidity that Thailand will throw at us as we follow the hilly coastal route.

"Thailand is known across the world to have some of the worst cases of the deadly cancer, Cholangiocarcinoma.

"This is one of the main reasons I have wanted to take on the challenge so I can hopefully raise even more awareness of this cancer both here and across Thailand."

Andrea organised a fire walk last year to raise funds

Andrea has taken part in several other challenges including climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, cycling from Vietnam to Cambodia, climbing to Everest base camp and a fire walk

And on the weekend of January 27th and 28th, the group has organised a charity bag pack in Waitrose to boost the appeal.
