A Sandbach woman who tested positive for Coronavirus has been fined by police after going to a bank.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (10 February) when police were alerted to the woman who was failing to self-isolate and risked spreading the virus to others.

A statement posted on the Crewe Police Facebook page said: "Officers responded to reports that a woman had failed to self-isolate after testing positive for Coronavirus in Sandbach.

"Officers attended an address and spoke with the woman who confirmed she had tested positive for Coronavirus and that had left her property to visit a bank."

Police described the incident as a "blatant breach" of restrictions and issued the woman with a £200 fixed penalty notice.

The police added: "Officers are risking their own life to support communities and keep you all safe, please do your bit by staying at home and sticking to the rules."
