A popular Sandbach restaurant and bar has changed hands and been taken over by the owner of another eaterie in the town.

Cubar, set up three years ago by businessman Phillip Bebbington, has been bought by the owner of K2H Creative Indian Kitchen Nagendra Prasad.

And the good news is the venue, whose Facebook page is here is keeping its Cuban layout, design, vibe and offering, with the only difference being a new name at the helm.

Nagendra is excited about taking over Cubar, opposite the town's historic St Mary's Church and just round the corner from other other restaurant,  in Georges Walk, K2H Creative Indian Kitchen.

He said: "It will be exactly the same and we'll be offering Cuban and Spanish food with world tapas.

"We plan to attract a wider customer base and carry on expanding what is a very successful business offering the finest Spanish and Cuban food.

"We'll also be offering cross-promotion with my other business in Sandbach, K2H Creative Indian Kitchen.

"I'm very excited. It's a different challenge and adds to the restaurants I already run. We're looking to expand into Nantwich now. We just need to find the right property."

Phillip, who has run Cubar with his Cuban-born partner, Yosleydy Lopez , are leaving the UK to live in Cuba.

Mr Bebbington said: "We started this journey over three years ago really not knowing what to expect ahead and it's been a real adventure with so many challenges, obstacles and moments of complete exhaustion.

"But we have thrived in working to create a restaurant with a different vibe for a town we have grown up in and love.

"We feel Cubar has brought a different level of cuisine and atmosphere to the town bringing people in for our food, music and great vibes.

It's been an incredible ride and we have made so many amazing friends and shared set of many experiences it's something we will never forget and always leave with a sad heart.

"Unfortunately we feel we have just ran out of steam and energy and need put our health and life back to our priority, we have a keen love for boats and have recently built a villa and bought a small boat where we intend to spend the next months thinking about what next whilst we reset and enjoy the relaxation."
