A group of young dancers from Sandbach took to the spotlight in London recently as Street Dance Academy (SDA) performed at 'Dancers Delight U18'.

Representing Cheshire, 10 dancers from Street Dance Academy, aged between 13 and 17, performed alongside other dancers from across the UK, delivering an electrifying mix of street dance styles — from hip-hop and commercial to expressive, story-led choreography.

Day two of the acclaimed dance showcase (on 2 April) featured 24 dance groups, highlighting some of the most exciting young talent from across the country.

The event was hosted by Erina Lewis, an established creative director, choreographer and writer whose work spans theatre, education and live performance.

Leading the Sandbach group was instructor Kim Jackson, whose journey with Street Dance Academy began 14 years ago as a student.

Now stepping into a choreography role, Kim brought her experience full circle — mentoring and shaping the performance of the very dancers following in her footsteps.

Academy Principal Julie Harris, travelled to London to support the crew, having received the by-invitation-only opportunity for SDA to showcase its talent.

Reflecting on the performance, Kim said: "It's been a really intense few weeks, and the team has worked incredibly hard. Everyone has pulled together, supported each other and kept pushing forward – it's been amazing to see."

Julie added: "I'm so happy when I see our students dance on stage. I burst with pride and I'm especially proud of Kim taking this group from the cobbles off Sandbach to a London stage."

Dancers Delight U18 brought together some of the UK's most exciting young dancers, offering a professional platform to showcase talent, build confidence and celebrate creativity.

The showcase highlighted the diversity and evolution of street dance, combining technical skill with storytelling, individuality and energy.
