School pays tribute to its 11-year-old 'talented sportsman' who died in fatal crash near Sandbach

Sandbach School today (Tuesday) paid tribute to an 11-year-old student who died following a crash in Middlewich.
Junior Groves attended the Crewe Road school where he was described as a "talented and passionate sportsman who would be remembered for his smile, enthusiasm and dedication to the sport he loved".
Headteacher, Sarah Burns, said: "Junior joined Sandbach School in 2024 and played an active role in school life.
"He was a talented and passionate 'sportsman' and will be remembered for his smile, enthusiasm and dedication to the sports that he loved.
"Our thoughts and most sincere condolences are with Junior's family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
"The school has specialist support available to anyone in our community who wants it and, in due time, we will plan for a permanent remembrance of Junior Groves."
Junior was an avid Crewe Alex fan and the club's match against Walsall on Saturday (May 3rd) was paused at the 11th minute for fans to pay their respects.
Players at Sandbach United also observed a minute's silence at the weekend in honour to the 11-year-old soccer fan who died.
