Students at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College found themselves wearing wild and wacky socks to kick-start Anti-Bullying Week.

Pupils and staff donned different socks yesterday (Monday) to show their support for the national event running from November 15th – 19th organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance.

Anti-Bullying Alliance patron, CBBC and CBeebies star Andy Day is behind the campaign with his band Andy and the Odd Socks and has released a tune to celebrate Odd Socks Day.

A spokesperson for the Anti-Bullying Alliance said: "There's a serious message behind the fun: let's pull on odd socks to show we're all unique and different and let's be kind to each other and respect each other's individuality.

"Kindness is more important today than it has ever been. The isolation of the last year has underlined how little acts of consideration can break down barriers and brighten the lives of the people around us."

Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College's headteacher Ellen Walton said: " Our Diana Award anti-bullying ambassadors have been working hard since the summer term to promote kindness and educate our whole school community about tolerance and our whole school value of respecting difference.

" We continue to be proud of our students for speaking so passionately about kindness which is at the heart of our school motto of 'An ambitious school with kindness at the heart of our school community'."

Alsager School is also supporting the week and has tweeted support including a poster showing 14 ways to be kind on line with top of the list being positive followed by offering to help, showing appreciation to others and sharing funny videos or images with friends and family.

"Showing kindness online can mean so much to someone else - it is a choice we can all make that helps others," they say in a tweet.
