Meet our newest sponsor - Alsager Community Support, making local lives better
By The Editor 23rd Feb 2026
For the past 10 years, Alsager Community Support (ACS) has been right at the heart of life in Alsager and the surrounding areas.
Our mission has always been simple: to make local lives better - thanks to the support of our amazing volunteers and the local community, that's exactly what we've been doing.
Whether you need a bit of advice, or a helping hand, ACS is here for you. We welcome everyone who contacts us at ACS with a friendly face and a listening ear.
Over the years, we've grown from a small support hub into a vital community lifeline, offering services such as our Advice Centre, Befriending, Shopping Support, Lunch club and Medical transportation, and of course, our well-loved School Uniform Scheme, Lost Property and Helping Hands and initiative.
Lynne Gammon, our Chair of ACS says: "We're incredibly proud of our team of dedicated volunteers – many of whom have been with us for years.
"Their kindness and offers of their valuable time have helped to build the strong, supportive community ACS is known for.
"However, as more people face loneliness, financial struggles, and other challenges, we need more volunteers and supporters to join us so that we can keep up with the growing demand.
"To help with this, we've extended our opening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4.00 pm, giving more people the opportunity to access support when they need it."
How You Can Help
We understand that not everyone has time to volunteer, but there are still lots of ways you can support ACS.
We're a Charity, and like any Charity, we have everyday costs that aren't always covered by grants. While we've secured some funding to help with staffing, grants aren't guaranteed, and they don't cover everything.
There are lots of behind-the-scenes costs – things like rent, utility bills, marketing, DBS checks for volunteers, and general running expenses – that all add up.
So, if you'd like to help keep ACS running, you can become a supporter who can give a one-off donation or a regular monthly gift, no matter how small, which really does make a difference.
There are so many ways the community can help, even helping to spread the word means the world to us.
You can, like and follow our Facebook page, share our posts with your friends, visit our website to learn more about what we do and keep an eye out for any help or items we may be requesting.
Every little bit of support helps us stay open, stay strong, and keep supporting the people who need us most.

Melisa Dickinson, our Centre Manager, shares: "Having worked in the Charity sector for several years, I'm constantly impressed by the strong community spirit here in Alsager and the surrounding areas we support.
"Our volunteers amaze me every day with their dedication, the way they go above and beyond and how they enjoy volunteering while forming friendships.
"ACS is more than just a Charity — it's a place where people come together to support each other and make a real difference."
Over the coming weeks, we will be featuring six stories that give the community a real insight into each of the key provisions here at ACS. We hope these stories will highlight the impact of our work and the people behind it who make it happen.
