Free holiday club places and healthy food are available for teenagers in Sandbach during the Christmas holidays at the town's SportsZone.

The youngsters will get free access to hi-tech golf simulators, pool, golf, live sport and nutritional food if they qualify under the HAF (Holiday Activity Fund).

SportsZone in Moston Road, Sandbach, becomes YouthZone during the holiday period to cater for the teenagers.

It will be open from 9am-1pm on December 22 and 23 and January 2 for youngsters aged 13-16.

YouthZone is a dedicated space for teens to stay active, socialise and try new sports in a positive environment.

The idea behind YouthZone is that teenagers build independence and confidence, while staying connected and supported during the holidays.

The free places are provided thanks to cash from Cheshire East Council and the Department for Education.

The teenagers will be looked after by coaches from Middlewich-based coaching firm, Sports Coaching Group.

Chris Regan, Chief Operations Officer and Co-founder of Sports Coaching Group said: "We think we are providing a great holiday club for teenagers.

"If they are eligible for HAF, they get free use of all the equipment and a free hot and healthy meal in our excellent new venue.

"There are just a few places left on the HAF programme and we are keen to ensure as many youngsters as as possible get the chance to enjoy using the facility."

Teenagers, who are not eligible for HAF, aged 12+, can pay £15 a day to use all the sports facilities. Food and soft drinks are available.

The Holiday Activities and Food (#HAF) programme is a government-funded initiative designed to support children and young people during the school holidays.

It provides free access to high-quality activities, delivered by trained professionals, alongside nutritious meals to help ease the pressure on families.

HAF ensures every child, regardless of circumstance, can enjoy meaningful, confidence-boosting experiences during the holidays.

This is why all the places on the HAF programme for Sports Coaching Group's multi-sports Christmas holiday clubs for children aged 5-12 at Sandbach School is already fully booked.

But some paid places are still availability at the school.
