A stray dog caused traffic disruption on the M6 near Sandbach over the weekend.

Highways England first reported the incident yesterday (14 March) at around 7:50am between junctions 17 and 18.

The misplaced pooch caused traffic to stop in both directions for a short time.

Just after 8am the agency reported that the dog had been "contained" with the "assistance of traffic officers" allowing traffic to resume as normal.

Highways England has not said what has happened to the stray.
