Students at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College are celebrating after achieving an 'amazing' set of GCSE and vocational qualification results.

The school says the 2026 cohort have had "challenges to the start of their education but shown resilience and character" resulting in an amazing set of results across the school.

The Middlewich Road school was full of students, staff, parents and carers today (Thursday) who were thrilled to receive their results and to embark on their next steps.

The school saw 28 per cent students achieving grade 7s to 9s for their results with over 100 grade 9s and 47 Level 2 Distinctions or above.

Many subjects performed exceptionally well securing grade 6 or higher on average said the school. This included: Music, Business, Photography, German, Textiles, Biology.

Seventy-five per cent of students achieved five or more passes, including English and Maths, showing an "amazing" set of results across the full cohort, whether securing level 9s or level 4s says the school.

Individual examples include Daisy who achieved a eight grade 9 GCSEs and 1 grade 8. Divine and Maya obtained six grade 9s and 3 grade 8s. Lily obtained six grade 9s, 1 L2D* and a 6. Mimi also obtained all 9s and 8s.

Headteacher Ellen Walton said: "We are so pleased to celebrate their GCSEs with them today. We are pleased to have enrolled many of them into our sixth form."

The school added: "Students, parents and staff worked hard together especially across Years 10 and 11 to ensure there was such a sense of determination and collaboration and this was successful.

"These results are a credit to the students, their teachers and parents and carers. The sheer numbers of staff in school today demonstrates how much our staff care about each and every student."
