A new coffee shop and takeaway service has opened near Winterley Pool and the owner is aiming to make a big splash.

Café owner, Janet Ellis, spent nearly seven weeks renovating the building next to a Chinese takeaway in Winterley with husband Heath.

Heath, a joiner, helped kit out the stunning new premises on Crewe Road and the result is a stylish new café – Kazzy's Kitchen.

The business is named after Janet's beloved horse, Kazzy, and it also has undertones of her other two passions – fashion and musicals.

Images of fashion icons and musicals adorn the walls of the cosy, quaint café which has a vintage feel.

"When I'm not here or cooking I'm often watching musicals," says Janet, whose favourite is the Sound of Music.

"I just love all the fashion of the 1940s and 1950s. I went to see the Dior exhibition in London as I love that style of clothing.

"I love Dior and that kind of fashion. I love vintage handbags and have a few."

Janet has used artwork she spotted on a trip to London's Camden Market to display on the walls.

And she's also carried on the vintage theme with crockery. This is the place to come to have tea served in vintage tea pots and cups.

"My grandmother would never drink out of anything except a China cup and saucer.  

"I love that era and do collect vintage tea pots," said Janet, who grew up in Oldham but moved to Northwich 20 years' ago before relocating to Haslington.

"I've always wanted to run my own café," said Janet, who started off delivering afternoon tea from home during lockdown.

"I've worked in catering all my life. It's something I really enjoy. I'm just finding out what people want," said Janet.

"I make a homemade soup every day and I'll also be offering a hot special every day alongside hot and cold sandwiches and cakes."

At the moment, Kazzy's kitchen is open Monday to Friday from 7.30 am, offering breakfast through until 2 pm.

It offers a range of food from hot breakfast to lunches and cakes and will also be stocking Wright's pies.

"I'm just finding out what people like and want. It doesn't matter if you just want to pop in for a take-out to eat by the pool or eat in."
