High achieving students at a Sandbach school enjoyed breakfast with the headteacher after scoring top points in a new house point system celebrating life skills.

Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College introduced a new house point system last year as a way to celebrate and reward some of the amazing achievements we were seeing amongst our student body.

Seven new categories were introduced, including aspects such as community, leadership and kindness which can now be recognised and celebrated by staff.

In awarding the house points, alerts are sent to both the student and their parents making them aware of the achievement.

"It was such a privilege to meet with our highest house point students from last academic year and to reflect on their first half term," said headteacher Ellen Walton.

"It makes me so hopeful when I meet such hard working and kind young people for what this generation will achieve in the future especially because house points recognise traits such as kindness, leadership and effort.

"We know that there is so much to celebrate within our school and whilst effort and dedication to learning has always been rewarded, we wanted to ensure that the important life skills were also recognised.

""We are so very proud of our students and wanted to find a way to show them how valued they are."
