A new breakfast club for veterans in Sandbach has been pronounced a resounding success after around 60 people attended the launch event.

And now the organisers, the Sandbach branch of the Royal British Legion, are planning the next.

The event is run in conjunction with help from Cheshire East Council and takes place at The Military Arms in Congleton Road.

The first one was held on Saturday (October 29th) and the next one will take place on Saturday, November 26th.

Veterans enjoyed a cooked breakfast at a subsidised rate with tea and coffee.

Linda Williams, secretary of the Sandbach branch of the RBL said: "It went very well and showed there is a need for this kind of event.

"Veterans enjoyed the chance to speak to old comrades as well as make new friends.

"We're very grateful too for the support and help we receive from Cheshire East Council."

A similar event takes place in Alsager, again organised by the Alsager branch of the RBL.
