Surface dressing work to take place next month on roads in the Middlewich area

Highway bosses have announced that a road in Middlewich and Sproston Green are to have surface dressing work carried out in June.
Coal Pit Lane in Middlewich and the A54 Holmes Chapel Road, Sproston Green will both be having surface dressing work carried out.
Surface dressing is a method of repairing the road surface, which can prevent much more expensive work being needed later.
The process involves spraying the road with a layer of hot liquid bitumen (known as a binder) and then covering it with loose stone chippings.
The dressing is then rolled, which together with the actions of slow moving traffic, embeds the stone chips into the road surface.
It seals the road surface to prevent water getting in and causing damage like potholes and can extend the life of the road surface by up to 10 years.
The June surface dressing work is as follows:
Coal Pit Lane, Middlewich
- Location: Junction – Clive Green Lane to Surface joint before Canal Bridge
- Phase one: Thursday 5 June
- Phase three: Thursday 12 June (Daytime works)
A54 Holmes Chapel Road, Sproston Green
- Location: Poolford Lane at J18 M6 to Surface joint before Centurion Way
- Phase one: Thursday 5 - Friday 6 June (9.30am - 3.30pm)
- Phase two: Monday 9 June (9.30am - 3.30pm)
- Phase three: Friday 20 - Saturday 21 June (Night works)
