A new "affordable" family-run salon chain recently started trading from a local town, with the Holmes Chapel-based owner aiming to open more stores across Cheshire.

Bella Mani, Market Street, Crewe, officially launched last June, opening inside the former Mark Anthony Hair Studio store.

Operated by Marisa Howard, 30, from Scotland, who currently lives in Holmes Chapel, Bella Mani is an expansion of the salon's eight branches north of the border.

Marisa told Nub News: "My mum and dad started the Bella Mani name in Scotland 25 years ago. They were the first nail and beauty salons under one roof at the time.

"I moved to Holmes Chapel three years ago and opened up this store in Crewe last summer.

"Cheshire is absolutely beautiful. I miss my family and friends in Scotland but I love it here. The overall vibe of it is great.

"This unit become available and I took it over. I noticed Crewe was fairly size town, known for its train station, with plenty of footfall in this area.

"I saw number of salons close down in the area and thought I should go for it in Crewe.

"Made up of five staff, there are three of us that work here full-time, with another two girls who work part-time."

Bella Mani offers a wide variety of services, including hair, nails, beauty, aesthetics and lashes.

Taking walk-ins, Marisa believes Bella Mani in Crewe is one of the cheapest salons around.

The business owner said: "My mum used to get her nails done and say it was an absolute fortune. That is what inspired her to open her own affordable business.

"All Bella Mani branches are the exact same, We made this entire brand and call ourselves a family chain

"I have been working in salons for 14 years and used to run branches in Scotland. Now I have the experience I want to open more branches and manage them.

"We are looking to open more stores in Cheshire and I currently have my eyes on Northwich.

"Crewe was the first here, but I would like to have a Northwich branch by the end of the year.

"I try and pick out the larger, busier towns where people are looking for a cheaper salon."

Marisa lived in Portugal for five years, where did the the hair of a number of celebrities, including Judi Dench, Ant and Dec's wives and number of footballer's wives.

The Cheshire resident believes her Crewe shop has been a big success so far, with aims to grow even more this year.

Marisa: "Since Bella Mani opened, we have been very busy and have a lot of regulars.

"It has been very positive overall and hope to entice more people here.

Bella Mani is open in Crewe town centre from 10am until 5pm (Tuesday to Saturday) (Ryan Parker).

"We try to be the most affordable salon. We are a quick service and one of few to allow walk-ins.

"I believe we are the cheapest for hair around. We don't turn any clients away, it is a take a seat and wait sort of thing.
