A 70s hit band to headline this weekend's Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival

A band famous for many hits in the 1970s and beyond are headlining this weekend's iconic Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival honouring the town's famous canal links.

It's the second year that the event is being held under community management and there's an array of activities and acts to keep crowds happy

Showaddywaddy, famous for hits like 'Under the Moon of Love', 'Three Steps to Heaven' and 'I wonder Why' will be headlining on Friday night (June 14th).

Other acts playing on the same night include a Tina Turner tribute and Quoincidence, a Status Quo tribute band. On Saturday (June 15th), One Visiion, a Queen tribute, a Pink tribute and ZZ Toppd, a ZZ Top tribute are among those playing.

The event. which takes place on June 14th - 16th will once again showcase Middlewich's rich canal history with a colourful flotilla of narrow boats selling their crafts as part of a floating market.

They will be seen at three locations – on the Trent & Mersey Canal below Big Lock or above Kings Lock, and on the Shropshire Union Canal above Wardle.

The main stage will return to its traditional location on Market Field and there will be a toe-tapping trail of musical entertainment to follow around fringe festival pubs.

Tickets for the music side of the festival cost £47.50 plus a booking fee for adults for the full weekend, £17.50 plus a booking fee for a child ticket for the full weekend. and £97.50 plus booking fee for a family tickets (two adults and two children) for the full weekend and are available here

Tickets for Friday night are also available at £35 plus booking fee and Saturday night £22 plus booking fee.
