Sandbach's world-famous Foden's Band are the best – and that's official!

The top performing musicians were crowned the 2021 National Champions at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain.

Held at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Saturday, the contest featured the top 19 brass bands from around the UK.

A spokesman for Foden's said: "Foden's were drawn to play 14th in the contest under the direction of Conductor Russell Gray with their performance receiving a fantastic reaction and ovation from the audience.

"Despite the high quality of playing from all bands throughout the day, Foden's were later announced as the winners.

"The band last won this particular contest in 2018 where part of the prize was to represent England at the European Brass Band Championships in 2020 being held in Palanga. Lithuania.

"Sadly, due to Covid the contest was cancelled and rearranged to be held in May 2022 at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham."
