Travellers who wanted to use land near Sandbach as a residential caravan site for one family have been refused permission.

Cheshire East Council had received an application for the land north of Horseshoe Farm in Warmingham Lane, Moston.

The plan was to change the use of land to use as a residential caravan sit for one gypsy/traveller family including no more than one static caravan/mobile home and a day room.

But the application was refused, with planners saying the application site is situated within the open countryside where development is restricted.

They also said the proposed development would be unsustainably located and would cause harm to the character and appearance of the open countryside.

"The development does not accord with relevant policies in terms of the location of a new or extended Gypsy and Traveller site," the letter of refusal said.
