Tribute and messages of sympathy after fan dies following Crewe match

Tributes have been paid by the club and fellow supporters after a fan became at Crewe Alexandra's home match yesterday (Saturday, 4 February) and later died. 

Following the match against Grimsby Town at Gresty Road's Mornflake Stadium, Crewe issued a statement today saying: "The club are deeply saddened to report that Chris Hagyard has died after falling ill at the stadium yesterday. 

"Chris was a loyal fan and valued member of the  Crewe Alex family. He will be greatly missed. 

"Our thoughts are with Chris's family and friends at this difficult time."

Others have taken to social media to pay tribute and pass on messages of sympathy.
