Truck owners headed 'home' for the weekend's Sandbach Transport Festival
An army of Foden trucks and vehicles headed 'home' at the weekend – for an historic event in the town where it all started.
Elworth in Sandbach was the home of the British truck firm, Foden, which dates back to 1856. Paccar acquired the company in 1980, and ceased to use the marque name in 2006.
The area is also linked to ERF, a British truck manufacturer established in 1933 by Edwin Richard Foden, from whose initials the company was named.
And although local work associated with the famous trucks is a thing of the past, their name lives on with the Foden Society and Revs for ERF fans.
This weekend saw the historic annual two-day Sandbach Transport Festival on Saturday and Sunday (April 22nd and April 23rd) with a big turn-out of both Foden and ERF vehicles.
Chair of the Foden Society, Nathan Shore, is bringing his 1953 Foden OG from his home in Market Drayton to the transport festival.
"We're normally there just for one day but this year there's a section for us on both days which is great.
"It's nice for us to honour the history of Foden and its special place in Sandbach. We're proud to be going back to Sandbach."
The Foden Society, which has members all over the world, celebrated its 30th anniversary with an event at Elworth Cricket Club last year.

"We're looking forward to a variety of Foden and ERF vehicles coming to the event and parking up on Scotch Common," said Martin Forster, treasurer of Sandbach Transport Festival, prior to this weekend's festival.
"We wanted to celebrate the huge contribution to the town that these trucks made."
ERF truck owners and their vehicles were also be at the event with the Foden vehicles to honour their link to the area too.
