Two boys who rescued Sandbach poppy wreaths from a stream are honoured at town event
Cheshire's Police and Crime Commissioner, John Dwyer, has heaped praise on two boys who rescued poppy wreaths from a stream taken from Sandbach War Memorial.
Mr Dwyer said he was humbled and honoured to be at a ceremony at Sandbach Town Hall where the duo were presented with certificates of achievement by the Royal British Legion and a gift from Sandbach Town Council.

Mr Dwyer said the two – Leon Walker (14) and Arron-Ray Holme (10) – were 'unsung heroes' and it was a tremendous achievement to have done what they did.
"Without any parental guidance they did this and knew exactly the right thing to do. That is something to be so proud of."
The certificate presented by Sandbach Town Council
Chair of the Sandbach branch of the Royal British Legion, Marjorie Newton, presented the two with framed certificates to mark their achievement while Sandbach Mayor, Councillor Kathryn Flavell presented them with a gift.
Both said they are incredibly proud of the achievement and couldn't thank the boys enough for what they had done.
Leon Walker, a pupil at Sandbach School, was on his way to do his morning paper round when he spotted the wreaths Town Bridge brook in Dingle Wood and called his friend Arron to come and help.
Michaela Everall, Leon's mum: "Both myself and Arron's mum are so proud of them. They just went in and got the wreaths out."
Now both boys are in for a real treat thanks to Sandbach Town Council after being asked to take part in Sandbach Transport Festival in April.
Both will travel with Mayor Cllr Flavell in the mayor's car as part of the parade through town.
