Two lanes on the M6 southbound between junctions 17 and 16 were closed last night (Monday) after brakes overheated on a heavy goods vehicle.

Firefighters from Crewe and Holmes Chapel went to the incident at 5.37 pm yesterday and lanes one and two were closed while the incident was dealt with.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Firefighters used a hose reel to cool brakes on a heavy goods vehicle. Lanes one and two were closed while the incident was dealt with."
