Two people were rescued from a house fire in the early hours of this morning (20 April) near Sandbach.

Firefighters were called to the scene at around 5:40am following reports of a house on fire on Betchton Road.

A spokesperson for the Cheshire Fire Service said: "On arrival, the crews rescued two people from the property.

"Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the flames."

Following the rescue, the two occupants were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The crews isolated the gas and electricity supply to the property and used a large fan to help ventilate the area.

Details on the cause of the fire have not been revealed.
